The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" appeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album Halfway House. They took their name from the song.

SlaughterHouse released a self titled full-length album on August 11, 2009 on the label E1 Music (formerly Koch Records).

this is great what u are doing ...you guys brought the hiphop back... the best thing to do right now in my opinion is to sign with Shady and make a gooddamn album with D12 !!! much respect for Slaughterhouse !!!
